 How to become a Christian

God has stated the conditions for salvation in the Bible. We believe that it is necessary for people to comply with the scriptures to follow Jesus. It is important to understand that in any verse of scripture that contains a condition to or of salvation, there may be more conditions, but there cannot be less, and that verse still be true. Therefore, we believe and present all conditions presented by the Bible.

Conditions to becoming a Christian

  • Hearing the Word of God

"Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ." - Romans 10:17

  • Believing in Christ

They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household." - Acts 16:31

  • Repenting of All Sin

Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." - Acts 2:38

  • Confessing Christ

"Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven." - Matthew 10:32

  • Being Baptized into Christ

Peter said to them, “Change your hearts and lives and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. - Acts 2:38

"Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.  If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection." - Romans 6:3-5

  • Living the Christian Life

"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.  For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." - 2 Peter 1:5-8

Why should I be baptized?

We should be baptized to follow the example of Jesus (Matthew 3:13-17), to obey Jesus' command (Matthew 28:18), to accept forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38; 22:16), to receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38), to show trust in Christ (Acts 8:12-13), and to declare God’s work in our life (Romans 6:1-8; Galatians 3:27). There is only method by which the human soul can be wiped clean of sin and that is through the blood of Christ (Hebrews 9:27-10:7), and this “washing away” of sin is most clearly symbolized in the act of baptism (Acts 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21).
