We are very often asked, “What Kind of Church is The Way Independent Christian Church?” Is it a Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian or Catholic Church? What is a Christian Church? Here are a few things that will help answer these questions.

 

​We are a Christian Church. Our message is that “Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.”  We require no other creed.  He alone is Lord and Savior.  We preach and teach directly from God's word both in the old & new testaments.

We are a Church of Christ. The church belongs to Him.  We have no authority to change the teachings, rewrite the rules, alter membership requirements, or usurp His authority.  It is His church.

We are a church seeking to restore unity among Christians.  As much as possible, we imitate the New Testament precedents. That is why our baptism is by immersion for the forgiveness of sins, our communion is every Lord’s Day, our leaders are called elders, our preaching is about Christ crucified and resurrected, and our prayers are in Christ’s name.  We believe that Jesus alone is “the way, the truth and the life”, and that no man comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).

We are a friendly church.  We know that the second greatest commandment is to love one another as you love yourself.  Our goal is to be a church that cares and shares as much as possible.  We are part of the family of God. We are Christians only, but not the only Christians.

We are a growing church.  We want to grow because we are under Christ’s commission to disciple the world.  This task is still unfinished. Thus, we are committed to the command of Christ “to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).
